Case Study:
I was in a verbally abusive relationship, but always felt unable to leave. Although I’d tried several times to end it, I always went back. I couldn’t understand why.
Through therapy, I began to see how past experiences fueled my anxieties and created a magnetic attraction to destructive relationships.
My counselor helped me understand how low self-esteem made me my own victim, seemingly unable to live apart from my boyfriend.
After months of therapy, I was finally able to get a part-time job and a new place to live. I am continuing to learn through counseling how my own fears keep me locked into bad situations.
