Holiday Giving Campaign

Family Service Facebook Campaign

Family Service of Greater New Orleans has launched an annual fund holiday campaign to further support counseling services that strengthen individuals' and families' emotional health and foster their self-sufficiency.

The campaign, "Healing the City One Hurt at a Time," includes a direct mail appeal, targeted facebook ads, e-mail blast and "Louisiana Made" spots on WWL-TV.

Please support our year-end fundraising effort, which will underwrite many operating expenses unmet by grants and fees. We hope to reach our year-end goal of $50,000.

Family Service in the News

CEO Ron McClain was recently profiled in the New Orleans Tribune as an outstanding, local, nonprofit leader.

“Ron is an inspiring example of what is possible when a person puts his talents to the pursuit of justice,” says Bill Quigley, director of the Gillis Long Poverty Law Center at Loyola University.

The Neighborhood Partnership Network also wrote about the agency's newest program, NOLA Dads, in its monthly newsletter,"The Trumpet."

New Grants for Expanded Services

In October, Family Service received a multiple-year grant from the U.S. Probation Office to administer outpatient, non-intensive individual and group counseling to assigned clients who are on probation.

The agency also began administering intensive outpatient services to first-time offenders suffering from alcohol or drug addictions. The Orleans Parish Criminal Court is referring clients to us through the Drug Court Treatment Program. We expect to provide counseling to approximately 400 clients in the four-phase, two-year program.

Family Service Annual Audit

The agency's financial operations statements were reviewed by Carr, Riggs & Ingram, a public accounting firm, and found to "represent fairly, in all material respects, the financial position of Family Service as of June 30, 2012."

"The year-end financial audit required no entry adjustments nor recommendations for improvement," said Jim Hubbard, FSGNO VP of Finance & Administration.

"Only 14% of funds are spent for administration, which is exceptionally low, and means almost 7/8th of funds go to provide direct services," McClain said.

This audit report is the result of the dedicated and hard work of our accounting manager, Pam Scott, accounts receivable assistant, Marilyn Bolden, and the accounting department as a whole, Hubbard said.
