This is what the holiday season means for many of us.
However, this is not true for many of the 16,500 Family Service of Greater New Orleans clients. More than 40% come from homes with incomes under $10,000. Nearly half are children and teenagers. A significant number live below the poverty level.
The Family Service Holiday Bureau — now in its 18th year — ensures that those families in need experience the spirit of generosity and caring during this season. After screening clients to determine their level of need, we match them with sponsors who provide for them based upon a wish list provided by the family. Sponsors include individuals, families, groups of friends or co-workers, community groups, churches or temples and corporations. The gifts are distributed at a festive holiday party in mid-December.
During the holiday season, when our thoughts naturally turn to giving, we offer you an opportunity to take action through our Holiday Bureau. Please consider sponsoring a family--or just one child--to help make the season a little brighter.
