What is CART?

The Office of Mental Health has developed a new crisis response service  CART (Child-Adolescent Response Team). The mission of the program is to provide crisis counseling and intervention to children, youth, and their immediate family. CART assists the family in the stabilization of their crisis and provides the family with advocacy, referral, and support. CART serves Orleans, St. Bernard and Plaquemines parishes.

es of crisis by providing support for the family in their own resolution of the crisis. A variety of services are available and are personally tailored to suit your needs.

Are You and Your Child in a Crisis??

  • Is your child’s behavior unmanageable?
  • Is your child threatening to hurt others?
  • Is your child threatening to hurt him/herself?

Requirements:

  • Your child must be 17 years of age or younger.

Who Can Make This Call?

  • Child/ Parent
  • Neighbor
  • Teacher
  • Concerned Family Member
  • Law Enforcement Officer
  • Physician / Nurse
  • Any person believing a child to be in crisis
  • Legal guardian must be in contact with CART to receive services
